Hey there blog friends! I have just recently announced a bunch of new classes here at Farrah Braniff Photographs and I wanted to give you guys a little info about them. I have a new site with the complete list of fall classes. You can sign up straight from there by using Paypal. Just today I added two new beginner digital SLR camera workshops (my most popular class). Check out the complete schedule here!

The next class that I have coming up is the Glass Jar Terrariums Workshop. If you've never played around with terrariums, you'll be surprised at how addictive, fun and easy they are to make. You don't have to be a gardening whiz at all. The terrariums are super easy to maintain as well. This class would be best suited for adults, tweens and teens. We provide the plants, glass jars and even a few woodland creatures or gnomes to use as decorations in your little landscape. Come enjoy a relaxing evening with friends and leave with something beautiful for your home.

Another cool class that we have coming up is our Intro to Digital Scrapbooking Class. I get a ton of questions about digital scrapbooking so we decided to have an intro class. In this 2 hour workshop, we will create digital scrapbooking pages using your images. We will be providing some digital elements to use and when we're all done, we'll send your page off to the lab to be printed. For this class, you will need a laptop with Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements installed (you can download the free trial version for the class).

I am also very excited about the next Photowalk that we have scheduled. The photowalk is perfect for people who have taken my Intro DSLR Workshop (or something like it). We will walk through Houston's Museum District photographing freely. We will stop at certain points along the way and go over a technical skill and then practice it. For those of you who have been following my Monday Lessons or have come to a class. this is the best way to practice your new skills. If you are brand new, don't be shy. You will learn from this as well. This walk is open to all levels!

A few other classes on the schedule are Art From Scrap (for kids), Deconstructed T's (for teens) and an Intro to Collage class. Take a moment and visit the Worshop site and check it out! I would also appreciate it if you would spread the link around and tell your friends about what we're doing at the studio. We really appreciate referrals so we have a special offer for you guys. If you send two friends over and they book a class, your class is FREE! Just have your friends let us know how they heard about us and we'll make sure you get a thank you class on us.

Come check out the new site, Farrah Braniff Workshops!

Please pass the link around to your friends. I would very much appreciate a tweet, Facebook share, forward or whatever you can do!

If you have any requests for classes, please pass them on. I am also looking for creative people to come teach with me. If you know of anyone with a cool crafty skill, please let me know!

Just in case you aren't, here's the list of all of the upcoming classes and links to register for them. THIS WEEKEND! I am very, very excited about this event. It will be fun and casual and a great way to practice your new skills. If you have taken a class with me in the past then i would definitely recommend this! It's fine for new shooters too because we'll be learning as we walk. I am a little worried about rain but, in the event that we get rained out, we'll reschedule for another day soon. Let's all just think super positive thoughts. A little overcast would not be a bad thing but a downpour will be hard to work around. Here is the event info and sign up link:

We still have a few sessions left for our White Sale promotion this Friday and Saturday. The White Sale is a day of fun, high energy sessions for children. We have special promotional pricing and packages as well. The sessions are best suited for children who can sit up by themselves and on up in age from there. Each 30 minute session will allow enough time for 2 children. If you have 3 or more children, please book two consecutive sessions. These sessions are for children only (sorry parents!).

Sessions are $150 and include a set of custom designed notecards with your children's images on them. Interested in a session? Call us today! (713) 255-2882.

Hello blog readers! I have a special request for you and your friends. I am in the process of writing a book and need some specific shots to fill out certain sections of the book. Here is what I am looking for:

3-4 girls (must be good friends) who would be wiling to pose in some shots together and apart. The shots would be taken outdoors in casual attire. The girls will need to be willing to get a little silly so super shy girls may not be the right fit for this. An ideal scenario would also include a great backyard, some cute bikes, popsicles, fun dress-ups or athletic gear. The ideal age range would be between 7-11.

A very, new newborn (between 8-15 days old) AND a open light-filled home with nice windows. A really cute, light and bright nursery would be a huge bonus!

Teenage girl who loves to have her picture taken and wants fun, personality-filled, outdoor location shots. A high school junior would be perfect (and you could use the images later for senior pictures!). The ideal girl would love fashion, not be too shy and have fun being a model for the day. The locations would probably be in and around downtown Houston. If she has a best friend who wants to join and be a part of the shoot that would be ok too!

Boys and/or girls who can sit up but who are NOT crawling yet and who are normally very smiley kids. This shoot would be done outside at various non-traditional, more urban locations (when we get a pretty not freezing day like today). The wardrobe for this shoot would be picked out in advance by the parent and myself (think: Baby Gap, funny t-shirts, hats, etc.).

Boys and/or girls who can sit up but who are NOT crawling yet and who are normally very smiley kids. This shoot would be done in your home. The ideal home would be bright and have large windows that we could sit next to while photographing.

Girl with RED hair and freckles, ages 6-18.

If you, or someone that you know, would be interested in modeling for me please email me some snapshots of your child and which category you want to volunteer them for. My contact info: (713) 255-2882 or farrah@farrahbraniff.com.

What do the models get in return? In return for being photographed and signing a model release, the models / families of models will receive a disc with my favorite 10 images from the session in hi-resolution. Yippppeeee!
