I thought that I would get home today from my week long trip and find some gem that I shot along the way and feature that as my favorite shot for today but that just might have to wait...I came across this video that my friend Brene posted on her blog today. I love it! I love it so much in fact that I needed to find a way to keep it and share it. So, here you go. I hope you like it too!

I am going to try and channel Jessica every morning, seriously. I may even have to be more picky about my pajamas just so I can shout out, "I love my pajamas!" The kids might get concerned if I stand on the sink though so I may try just standing or maybe I'll do my shout outs on the way to work in my car. I'm doing it though, many thanks to Miss J for the inspiration today.

I have another favorite bit of internet awesomeness that I found through the blog of the amazing Seth Godin. It is this fabulous blog and it makes me smile every time I read it. I've started making my own notes of thanks in my journal. Maybe that would be a fun Twitter project? I'm still looking for a way to connect with Twitter so maybe that could be it?

One other little favorite of mine this week is the Life episode on Plants. I just sat watching it in complete awe. It is so incredible! The way it is shot as well as the things you learn about plants...it's just breathtaking. The whole series has been amazing but that episode in particular is one of my very favorites.

Lastly, after a week out on the road teaching and traveling I have found my way back home. I am so happy to be back! I would make a crappy rock star, the touring would kill me. I like my spot in my soft bed. I like snuggling up with Steven and falling asleep while watching science shows on Discovery. I like waking up to to the pitter pat of 5 and 7 year old feet. I love the morning snuggles. So, my very favorite shot of this week has to be this one...

The boys asked to sleep in bed with me tonight. So, see that little empty space between them? That's where I'm headed right after this. I hope you guys are all as comfortable, warm and grateful as I am tonight. Happy weekend my friends!

As always, please share links to your blogs, shots, etc. or post your images in my Flickr Favorite Shot Friday Pool. Can't wait to see them!

Annie Manning says: LOL ... I just posted this little girl's video on my Facebook page a few minutes ago. It's fabulous!! :) "I CAN DO ANYTHING GOOD!!!" :) (05.14.10 @ 11:32 PM)
Beth Crocker says: This video, and your shot of your boys, are both adorable!!! What great affirmations. What more can show your personal success as a parent than when your child is so happy, confident, & full of love?! (05.17.10 @ 09:14 AM)
Lacy says: Farrah, your boys are beautiful. What a wonderful inspiration! And I am also going to have to start behaving like Jessica - I live alone, so I can hop on the sink and all! (05.21.10 @ 09:05 PM)
There's no doubt about it, summer has officially arrived here in Houston, Texas. It's been in the 90's all week. I'm bracing myself because I am NOT a heat lover. I find the summer in Houston oppressive, draining and depressing. Don't get me wrong, I am not a summer hater. In fact, there are so very many things that I love about the summer. I just wasn't built for hot weather. I think my Irish heritage has something to do with it. My pale skin is just way more comfortable in a fuzzy sweater sipping cold beer on a foggy day.

When I think about the joys of summer, I instantly think back on my childhood. I remember summer camp by the Guadalupe river, campfires, July 4th picnics at the bay house and pretty much living in the pool. Sayer and Finn have been staring longingly at the pool for weeks. They were trying to get in it a month ago. They would even put on their suits (despite our warnings about how cold it was) and try and force themselves in. Of course they would come running back minutes later begging for a towel. One of the good things that comes along with the hot weather is warm pool water and our kids are so excited to be back in the pool!

This Friday I am celebrating the beginnings of summer, the warm pool water and only about a month and 3 weeks until our annual summer trip! This picture just makes me smile. It is Allison and Finnian spending one of the first warm water days in the pool and loving every minute of it.

FSF_6998.jpgThese are my other 2 favorites from the day. I hope you guys are all enjoying your first signs of summer and maybe even getting to spend some time in the pool! I hope you will share your favorite shots with us. You can include links to your images (flickr, blogs, etc.) in the comments section below or add them to my Favorite Shot Friday Flickr pool.

It's a toss up this week between the close up from this session and this full body one. I think it's the full body one though. Look how sweet she is! Do you love her little headband? It's brand new and I just love it. This was the first time I used it in a session. I've also been playing around with the hand painted look. What do you think?

I love this shot! It makes me think of that feeling that you get when you have a big job to do or something sort of daunting in front of you. She did what many of us would do in the situation...first she walked towards it and then away but when Mom (a trusted friend) put her back on track and told her to go for it she walked right up and smashed it!

Go smash some blocks this weekend my friends!

Any favorite shots from you guys today? Post links to them (on your flickr, your blog or wherever) in the comments section below OR you can upload them to our Favorite Shot Friday Flickr pool. Don't she shy!

I know, you're used to seeing images of children and babies but we do shoot a few other things here at the studio too. This time of year we see a lot of high school seniors. This is Tasia. I love this shot!

I used to teach high school and really enjoyed it. High school kids are right in the middle of such an amazing time in their lives. It's a crazy mix of uncertainty-insecurity-opportunity-bravado-creativity-inhibition and righteousness (just to name a few). I taught photography and I loved seeing what they came up with and how they saw the world around them.

How about you guys, any favorite shots this Friday?  Please submit links to your images, blogs, etc. in the comments below or upload your images to our Favorite Shot Friday Flickr Pool. Don't be shy! The images don't need to be perfect- just loved by you!
