I am on a serious mind exploding, information seeking, life expanding mission at the moment. Some people might even call it a mid-life crisis. I'm choosing to call it a mid-life awakening and rebooting. In the process, I am devouring books and podcasts. I'm doing as much yoga as I can to help moderate the anxiety of all the new information and making sure to show up for therapy once a week. I'm spending time with my friends whenever possible. In this sort of unraveling process, I'm also realizing that I have some of the best friends, EVER. Are you maybe in the same place? If so, here's a list of what I've been listening to, reading, and watching. I've shared some of this before but twice is twice as nice.
My friend Brené Brown's, Daring Greatly
Seth Godin, Icarus Deception
Steven Pressfield, The War of Art
Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, The Rise
Christopher Ryan, Sex at Dawn
Currently reading and loving, Dan Savage's, The Commitment
Tangentially Speaking- podcast by Christopher Ryan
This, Because YES, better is a dream worth dreaming.
When I received my mammoth restoration Hardware catalog in the mail I was shocked at how wasteful it was. Mine went straight into the recycle bin without so much as a peek. I don't even shop there so why am I on their list? This article about the whole RH marketing fail made me laugh. Especially this: "If I sit down with 3300 pages, there better be a scarfaced wizard or a lot of Jesus involved."
I'm prepping some new workshops for the fall, including one in September at Sparrow and the Nest in Houston. The date will be announced shortly. They also have my book in stock now! It's a really neat shop stocked with all sorts of handmade items from local artists. If you're local, you should definitely go check it out.
I wrote a letter recently and loved every minute of revisiting analog communication. I need to write more.
This quote by my favorite artist, Frida Kahlo..."Take a lover who looks at you like maybe you are magic".
And this, Questions girls with tattoos are tired of hearing. And, yes, they do hurt.
Enjoy yourselves today my lovelies and happy 4th!
